2021.12.08 20:19 Starbirthedarcher It's getting easier but I still miss him.
It was a situationship or casual encounters. We cuddled. We watched shows together. Got food together. Laughed together. He held me when I broke down. I kissed his head goodnight when he fell asleep. He carried me to bed when I was so drunk I couldn't walk.
I don't want someone because I'm lonely. I don't want anyone but him. I was under the wrong impression that he'd ever date me in the first place. And here I am four weeks later still confused. Confused about if it was just the alcohol. If he really had feelings for me to begin with. Or if he just liked being held. If he just liked the sex. And that was it. He did things that made it seem like it wasn't just casual fun. Swiping my hair out of my face when we watched anime. Cuddling without sleeping with me. Other things.
I guess I'll never know. I sometimes wish he missed me as much as I miss him. That's selfish. It's better he doesn't. He doesn't deserve that pain. I wish his feelings for me ran as deep as mine ran for him. But that would only cause him pain since things ended. It's better he doesn't miss me. That he isn't thinking of me. He's busily passing his days by. Watching his favorite shows, drinking beers, working, laughing. I miss him.

2021.12.08 20:19 quinncuatro Some friends and I are creating a new community to help folks in Connecticut learn about web3 technologies. We hope you'll join us!
Like the title says, we're creating a group called CT3 to help folks in Connecticut learn about web3 technologies - from the concept of a decentralized internet all the way to developing an app on a blockchain (and everything in between).
I'm sure some of you are yelling at your screen about the rain forests (trust me, I TOTALLY get it), but there are actually some neat blockchains that run on a proof-of-stake model and use a crazy low amount of energy.
Solana, for example, can handle tens of thousands of transactions per second - each using about a single Google search worth of electricity and costing about a fraction of a penny to execute.
We've been learning a lot about of these new technologies ourselves while working on different projects and found that the best way to learn is by teaching others. We also know that these topics can be hard to conceptualize, and that cryptocurrency can be off-putting, but there's a lot of really unique web experiences being built on blockchain that we're excited about. It's not just decentralized finance and trading jpegs for millions of dollars.
Personally, my favorite part about CT3 is that we want you to own and operate it with us. We're building the community as a decentralized autonomous organization (or DAO), where everyone who holds one of our NFT's (that we're giving out for free) becomes a part owner and gets to help shape the future of CT3 through an on-chain voting process.
Since we're all going to be learning from each other, we want everyone to feel that they have a stake in keeping the group active and healthy while making sure you have a seat at the table if and when we collectively decide to change things in the future. We'll even help you set up a free wallet so we can send you the NFT and grant access to the DAO. You don't have to invest a single cent in a cryptocurrency if you don't want to.
Every part of this that touches a blockchain is happening on Solana (about the most eco-friendly and cheap to execute chain there is). We want to be very intentional about this being as low impact on the environment as we can.
That's all to say that we want you to feel more than welcome to come learn with us and share your perspective about these new technologies that make people feel a lot of different ways.
You can find us on Twitter at @ct3_dao and on our website, which has an invite link to our growing Discord server (where most of the action is happening). You can also read more about why we decided to start CT3 in this blog post.
Presently we're working out the details for our first in person Meetup, so we can all get to know each other and start to learn about our shared goals.
If you’ve ever been at all interested in learning about the decentralized web, even if you’ve never written a single line of code before, I really hope you’ll join us!

2021.12.08 20:19 Darkace911 Some MSP's think so highly of themselves
I am aware of the company and was not impressed with their current staff. They are a one office MSP that works with a small client base and then there is the pay.. A couple lines jump out at me. Why would you want to work for people like this?
"You’ll have all the autonomy you want when it comes to executing your ideas (we like big thinkers), however, you’ll be assigned a Service Coordinator who will own your day."
"We hire primarily on personality and character… technical skills are everywhere."
***Full Job Description The Job (well it’s really a career, not a job!)
********* We are lean, our engineers are brilliant, and our clients do amazing things. We have been in business forever, but we have the energy and enthusiasm of a startup. To be successful here it’s best if you like adventurous activities, demand the most from yourself in everything you do, and are ready to work as hard as you play. We want this to be the last place you ever work. You’ll grow with *********!
You will be troubleshooting all levels of technical network issues. You will be working on desktops, laptops, servers, and you’ll expand your knowledge into other technology as well. When you’re ready, you’ll be implementing Active Directory domains, designing networks, and leading projects. In addition to troubleshooting, you’ll have the opportunity to design and configure solutions for our clients. You’ll be doing a mix of proactive work, emergency support and projects. We live primarily in a Windows world with a bit of unique stuff like Macs and obscure third-party apps. You’ll have all the autonomy you want when it comes to executing your ideas (we like big thinkers), however, you’ll be assigned a Service Coordinator who will own your day. You will get to focus on what you love, technology, but will also have to focus on prioritizing client demands. You get to show up, implement your solutions, document what you did, and move on to the next challenge.
This is not an entry level position. This is for knowledgeable IT consultants/engineers/technicians with a breadth of experience. You will succeed here if you know you will follow basic procedures such as entering all your notes and time entries before you move on to your next scheduled event. This is a mandatory requirement and immediate separation will occur if you demonstrate an unwillingness to comply, no matter how awesome you are! Sorry, it’s a hard line.
We check references, professional and personal, and we do a criminal background check. If your references wouldn’t refer to you as dynamic, friendly, can talk to anyone, motivated, driven, loyal, creative, competitive, hilarious, or some combination of those words, then you might want to apply somewhere else. We love people passionate about their hobbies; let your passions come through in your cover letter.
YOU MUST INCLUDE A COVER LETTER! If you do not, we won’t even open your resume.
Here’s the boring part:

2021.12.08 20:19 Mossmaster Wisdom of Zen vs. Factual Knowledge of the History of Zen.
My thesis is that there are two approaches to the study of Zen- Literal and Symbolist.
1) What I would call "mere" Factual Academic Scholorship which seeks to study the phenomenon of Zen as a historical tradition. This is basically research from a Sociological Ethnographic framework. This is the Literal approach.
2) The Symbolist approach, (which I heartily favor) does not ignore the treasury of events from the history of Zen, but does not focus on the mere accumulation of facts and data, nor does it obsess neurotically over the factual accuracy of details from Zen history. Rather. It accepts that koan rise and fall in the mist of legend, and cannot be taken as literal historical record, but as True Fable. The symbolist approach draws from history, but looks to a further horizon of Truth.
Anyone can study Zen, but I don't think you can be a Symbolist without practicing it as your religion.
Or at least the Symbolist approach reaches for a kind of study that is beyond the reach of academic or rational knowledge.
No matter how accurate your factual knowledge of Zen may be from an academic standpoint, if you cannot read the symbolic code/language of koan, you will have mere knowledge, but not Wisdom.
Conversely, if you can read the Symbolic Code, then the nationality of the fox is a footnote you may or may not recall, but his burial is your duty and his resurrection is inevitable.

2021.12.08 20:19 not_mr_Lebowski Seeking career advice on paths to cinematography.
I’ve decided I’m not happy with where I’m at regarding cinematography and videography etc, and want to go back to crewing so I can learn from other people that are much more experienced.
I’m 32, and live in New Zealand. I’m currently deciding on what crew role and subsequent path makes the most sense, and would make me the best DP.
I’m thinking heading into lighting, working my way up to gaffer, and then jumping to DOP would make the most sense.
I do also really love camera operating, but most DPs operate for themselves here in NZ. I was interested in Arri Trinity operating too, but our market is a bit too small for me to do that without a decades worth of Steadicam opping and the subsequent connections that would come with that.
I do want to be learning as much as possible everyday, and work towards having some creative contribution. I also really enjoy problem solving.
I’ll continue to DP music videos, and maybe some short films in the meantime. But I really want to “do my time” and learn from the best.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
